ATL + RISE

Supporting two courts with one shared purpose.

ATL addresses criminal conduct before sentencing. RISE supports reentry after a custodial sentence. The Foundation stands behind both.

The Foundation

Our work begins with the needs of the two court teams.

The Foundation works alongside the ATL and RISE communities to identify needs that charitable support can responsibly address. That may include program resources, connections to community-based services, educational and employment opportunities, treatment-related support, and other efforts that reinforce participation and successful reentry. The courts retain responsibility for supervision and judicial decisions; the Foundation provides nonprofit support for their rehabilitative mission.

Two programs, one district, and a Foundation built specifically to support their success.

The programs

Northern District of Georgia

The Foundation is dedicated to the two accountability courts operated in the district: ATL and RISE.

ATL

Accountability, Treatment, and Leadership

ATL is a voluntary, post-guilty-plea, pre-sentencing program for selected defendants charged with non-violent crimes who would benefit from intensive supervision, education, or treatment. The court-supervised program is a collaboration among the District Court, U.S. Probation Office, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Federal Defender Program, and participating federal judges. Individualized programming may include substance-use treatment, mental-health treatment, employment services, and education.

RISE

Reentry through Integrity, Strength, and Empowerment

RISE serves individuals who have completed a custodial sentence and face a moderate-to-high risk of reoffending while returning to the community. Its court team provides increased supervision and problem-solving support for reentry barriers, connecting participants with community-based resources such as substance-use and mental-health treatment, employment and job training, housing, education, and mentorship.
