About the Courts
Meet ATL and RISE, the Northern District of Georgia accountability court programs supported by the Federal Accountability Courts Foundation.
The ATL and RISE Court programs are operated by teams within the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. The Foundation is their independent nonprofit partner, building community awareness and attracting charitable support for resources beyond what public funding alone can provide. Every Foundation initiative is designed to strengthen these two programs and help participants meet demanding expectations, address barriers, and build more stable lives.

Northern District of GeorgiaThe ATL Court is designed for criminal defendants who have a demonstrated need for increased supervision, treatment, and resources. The program offers accepted participants an alternative to incarceration for non-violent criminal conduct. The ATL Court is a court-supervised program run by representatives from the U.S. Probation Office, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Federal Defender Program, and federal judges.
Official ATL Court pageRISE is designed for individuals who have already completed their custodial sentence but have demonstrated a moderate-to-high risk of reoffending. The RISE Court team, which is comprised of representatives from the U.S. Probation Office, Federal Defender Program, and federal judges, provides increased supervision and problem-solving solutions on the reentry obstacles faced by participants. This includes access to community-based resources, including substance abuse and mental health treatment, job training and placement, housing resources, education, and mentorship.
